Australian millennials aren’t the biggest fans of politicians nowadays, according a new poll conducted by Deloitte. Generation Y, those born between 1983 and 1994, are becoming increasingly skeptical of politics and losing faith in politicians. The annual survey found that 63 per cent of Australian millennials believe politicians do more harm than good in society. South Coast Women’s Health & Welfare Aboriginal Corporation, Waminda, will receive $4 million in funding from the Federal Government this year to sustain its programs that provide local indigenous women health and wellbeing support. The Nowra-based service is set to receive two grants, which will fund programs over the next three years. A group of UOW students is taking weeding the garden to a new level. The team members are getting their hands dirty and helping local volunteers regenerate a section of Collins Creek, Woonona. The creek’s bank is overrun with weeds that are smothering native shrubs and trees. Local volunteers are hoping to restore the creek’s native plant species, so the area can thrive. Australians throw out $8 billion worth of edible food every year and, according to foodwise.com.au, young consumers between the ages 18-24 are among the biggest wasters of food. To spark conversation with young people about avoidable food waste, Hidden Harvest hosted a Soup and Film Night at the University of Wollongong in October.
