Three million Australian university students will have their debt cut under measures revealed in the federal budget. UOW researchers are “thrilled” after the government announced payment for student placements due to the alarming results of their poverty placement research. Lunch on the lawn is at the Duck Pond Lawn every Tuesday and Wednesday for students to listen to live music, socialise and have a break from studying. The University of Wollongong has committed to the Greater Cities Commission Women’s Safety Charter  for women and girls to feel safer. The Women’s Safety Charter guides organisations, businesses, government agencies and not-for-profit organisations to make public spaces safer for women, girls, and everyone. The Charter advocates for women’s safety and plans to change and develop public spaces including parks, playgrounds, streets, and public facilities. A recent study by UOW researchers for better treatments shows additional evidence of biological differences when it comes to psychiatric disorders. The study is published on Neuropsychopharmacology and it discusses the role of gender in factors and risks of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). A wellness workshop focussing on how to win a job by writing a stand-out job application and improving interview skills has been organised by UOW Pulse via Zoom.
