The North Wollongong Hotel has paired with Pound Paws for Wollongong’s first ‘Dog Day’. The event is a celebration of pet adoption. It is being held to raise awareness about Pound Paws and to encourage prospective dog owners to ‘adopt instead of shop’. Wollongong creative collective Yours and Owls has developed a virtual reality (VR) app to allow users to experience live-streamed music events in 360 degree video. Yours and Owls VR is free, with information on all live gigs in Wollongong run by Yours and Owls as well as information about the Yours and Owls festival. It also includes a VR video library containing 360 degree clips from the 2016 festival and will have footage from the upcoming 2017 festival on the October long weekend. Triathlon Australia has appointed Brendan Sexton, London Olympics triathlete, as the development coach at the Wollongong International Performance Centre.
