The Good Energy Run Club reached its biggest group last week, with 50 women running five kilometres with the united goal of creating a positive female community.
The Club schedules three weekly runs of varying distances and timings, with the aim of accommodating a broader range of female participants
Club founder Paige Pollard says that the community was built to empower women and help them run.
“I started this community to help myself find more like-minded friends as an adult, no one speaks on the struggles to make friends as you get older,” Paige said.
“So, week by week I showed up, helped women and made friends and week by week the group got bigger, now the community runs three times a week and we even have merch.
“The community is everything I wanted and more and as we grow, we continue to empower.”
Ms Pollard said that Good Energy Run Club promotes holistic wellbeing and aims to help the community reach their goals whether it be running or lifestyle.
Experienced runner Isabella Attwater said that although she runs most days week the community runs are the runs she most looks forward to.
“I have been running for many years and having this community in Wollongong is extremely motivating, I joined Good Energy in around June and have been loving it ever since,” Isabella said.
“It can be super hard getting up in the morning to run but now with a community involved I have made so many friends for life.”
Since being founded in March the Club has grown continuously, and encourages all women to come along no matter their running capabilities. You can find their schedule here, and join their Facebook group here for updates on future events.
