A new exhibition at the University of Wollongong library is literally revealing box-loads of international history. The 24 Boxes: Unpacking the Cochrane Papa New Guinea Collection exhibition is a collection of photos, audio, documentation and objects that represent Papua New Guinean culture and life as collected collected by the Cochrane family between 1949-66.
The collection was one of the first to be digitised at UOW and has had 40,000 downloads.
The exhibition will be open every day until 18 September, and will be supported by academic presentations on early literature in post-colonial and colonial Papa New Guinea and the development of the constitution and the path towards independence.
