A new partnership has been formed to gauge how COVID-19 has impacted people-movement.

UOW’s SMART Infrastructure Facility has teamed up with Meshed to help governments and councils recognise the mobility changes during the coronavirus pandemic.

The project will use pedestrian-counting data to better understand the impact of the virus on  economic mobility and social engagement.

Councils will use nCounter sensors and devices that are already in public areas, such as CBD parks, running and walking trails, and beaches to measure the use of public places and facilities during the pandemic restrictions.
