UOW students have been encouraged to put away their laptops and try their hand at surfboard painting, as one of the many free art workshops being held for UOW Live Art week.

Matt King from Surf Paints regularly runs surfboard painting workshops in the Illawarra, using old repurposed boards donated by the local community.

He says that these workshops encourage people to try out mindful art activities, which he believes is positive for the participants mental health.

Matt King invited UOWTV reporter Abbey Philpott to get involved in the Surf Paints workshop.

The UOW Live Art week finishes on Friday 5th May.

Check out what workshops are running for the rest of the week.

WHATS ON FOR THE REST OF LIVE ART WEEK?
