An Illawarra service club is doing what it can to help those confronted with domestic violence.

The Dapto Rotary Club will host ‘Comedy for a Cause’ on Friday night to raise money for domestic violence prevention.

A Dapto Rotary Club director Rod Young said the cause was important to the club and the event would draw attention to the effects domestic violence has on families.

“We think it’s such a broad-based issue that the community needs to be more conscious of, and to be recognising the effects it has on families, particularly children,” he said.

The show is presented by Comedy with a Cause, a body that supports clubs and charities with fundraising.

‘Comedy for a Cause’ director Mat Wakefield said he organised comedians for schools, charities, and other not for profit organisations.more.

“We work with Rotary clubs across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane to put on comedy shows to raise funds for various causes,” Mr Wakefeild said.

Tickets are available on the Dapto Rotary Club website, and the show gets underway from 7.30pm Friday at Dapto Leagues Club.
