Tomorrow the ground is broken for the construction of the multi million dollar iAccelarete Centre. The facility is being built at the University of Wollongong’s Innovation Campus as part of the Illawarra Innovation Ecosystem and is hoped to help lead the regions manufacturing based economy into a new high tech industry cluster. It is aspiring to double the pipeline of successful start ups.
This week it was announced the outer port expansion in Port Kembla will now be super sized adding two more phases to the existing expansion that was announced in 2011. The new plan will increase jobs in the port with every additional vessel arrival providing about $1 million a year and four port related jobs. It is hoped the new expansion will allow up to 170 additional vessels a year.
