New sexual consent laws take effect today across NSW as part of a historic legislative reform of the state. The AFL and AFL Players Association have agreed on a one-year collective bargaining agreement for AFLW players that will bring the season forward and almost double previous salaries. Under the new pay deal, the average player’s salary will increase by 94 per cent across the competition. AFLW players are paid differently depending on where they fall in a four-tier category. The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) released new data on the Wage Price Index (WPI) in Australia today. The quarterly cost of living for employees in Australia increased by 1.7%, while the wage rate only rose 0.7%.
