Inner West residents are increasingly at risk of homelessness, with the number of people affected growing each year. The Inner West Council has conducted a yearly street count since 2016, where staff and volunteers from various organisations patrol the homeless ‘hot spots’ and record the number of people sleeping rough. Sam Leighton-Dore’s newly-released book, How To Be A Big Strong Man, explores issues surrounding masculinity through a series of cartoons, making it an engaging and easy to read resource. His work covers some controversial issues in an unconventional way. Leighton-Dore admits he has ‘ruffled a few feathers’ with his his approach, with the book drawing some criticism.
