The Sustainable Buildings Research Centre (SBRC) at the University of Wollongong is set to become the first Australian building certified by the Living Building Challenge, the world’s highest standard of building sustainability. In order to achieve Living Building status, the SBRC has had to follow a rigorous framework that ensures buildings produce more energy than they use as this is a key aspect in sustainability. A local Scouts group is hoping to increase its youth membership by engaging with the community and encouraging friends of members to join the organisation. The 1st Figtree Scout Group is looking to boost its youth membership, in line with the Scouts Australia NSW 2016-2018 strategic plan. The plan aims to create a ‘positive and enabling culture’, with the Scouts Australia mission being ‘to contribute to the education of young people’.
