Regular gym addicts will soon have the opportunity to train like elite athletes at altitudes up to 3,500 metres thanks to the opening of the new Airlocker Gym in Wollongong.

Co-owner, Ruby Clarke said the gym is expected to open at the end of October.

“I’ve always been into sports and fitness and the first time I tried altitude training was a full mind and body experience,” she said.

“I’m so beyond excited to be able to introduce this style of training to more people.”

Ms Clarke says the Airlocker style of training has benefits beyond the traditional gym because it gives people results much faster than traditional workouts.

“Airlocker training allows you to burn more calories faster, as the high altitude creates an oxygen-reduced environment forcing the body to work harder,” she said.

Ms Clarke said the gym’s group classes encouraged a sense of camaraderie among participants, making the fitness journey not only effective but also enjoyable.

Airlocker Newcastle member Mellissa Cranny said that she loves the community aspect and vibe of the gym.

“I have been training at an Airlocker gym for around 8 months now and I’m in the best shape of my life,” she said.

“Training at Airlocker is always the best part of my day everyone is so supportive and keen to see you reach your goals.”

Airlocker is a fast-growing franchise with over 30 studios across Australia.
