    Young people ‘disengaged’ from politics, state election: Expert

    A university academic has declared many young people are detached from this weekend’s NSW state election.

    “>Prof. Greg Melleuish said young people, and many others, are disengaged with politics and politicians.

    “It’s a problem, I wonder how much engagement there has been with the election generally, a lot of young people don’t even know the name of the opposition,” Prof. Melleuish said.

    Pre-polling is underway across NSW, and for the first time, the so-called Millennials will be on near-equal footing with the number of Baby Boomers registered to vote.
