The Warilla Gorillas are on the world stage as they host the 2017 World Bowls Championship. This is the 12th time Warilla has hosted the event, catapulting the club to the global stage. Local competitor Jeremy Henrey has made the men’s final for the third year running, and is set to face the young gun from Malaysia. The Australian is the favourite heading into the final, however the youthful Malaysian will be hard to beat. Youth and bowls aren’t stereotypically synonymous, however the demographic of today’s Australian team challenges the stereotype. The median age of the Australian team is younger than the Australian cricket team.
