Warilla Bowling Club is playing host to the 2014 Bowls Club from 8th – 16th April.

Men and women from over 20 countries, including Australia, are competing in various rounds over the week.

On day two of the singles competition, both the mens and women’s games offered up some mixed results.

In the third round of the mens draw, a close game between Ryan Dixon from Norfolk Island and Shannon McIlroy had the crowd’s attention.

In the end, Dixon came out on top of not only the match, but also the his side of the competition, followed closely by Australia’s Jeremy Henry.

In the second half of the men’s draw, it was all Malaysia with Fairul Abd. Muim solely in the lead with two wins from two games.

Malaysia’s winning ways continued in the women’s competition, with Siti Zalina Ahmed leading her draw, and Kiwi Jo Edwards leading the other.

The history of the event would suggest Scotland would be a major threat, winning the most World Cups in the sport’s history, but Malaysia, New Zealand and our own Aussies are proving to be major threats.
