Unisport’s 28th Indigenous Nationals will be hosted by the University of Wollongong this year. The event will be hosted by the university’s, Indigenous centre, Woolyungah, and will be held in late June.

The Indigenous Nationals, originally known as the National Indigenous Tertiary Education Student Games, began in 1996 as a class project from the University of Newcastle. Since then, the games have brought together student-athletes from across Australia.

This year’s event is expected to promote and acknowledge the heritage and history of the University of Wollongong’s participation and culture within Woolyungah. UOW has competed in the event for close to two decades and finished 17th out of 33 teams last year.
