HSC students are being rewarded with free pizza for their study habits with a Tuesday night study group hosted by the MidCoast libraries in Taree and Forster,

Exclusively for HSC students, the Tuesday evening event provides an engaging atmosphere for students to partake in, whilst maintaining healthy study habits in anticipation for the HSC, which beings on October 12.

Year 12 student, Natasha Percivil, said that the study nights had given her a push to study when she felt unmotivated.

“I thought that being around my friends while studying would be counterproductive, but you see everyone around you getting to work and it gives you an extra push to also study,” she said.

Aside from allowing students access to the library after hours, the initiative also provides free printing and photocopying for all students when they flash their student card.

The initiative has been ongoing since 2022, whereas this was the first year the libraries have been accessible since Covid. The library saw an astounding weekly turn out last year, which promoted this year’s reintroduction.

Event supervisor, Sarah Jones, said that she’s glad to see regular faces come by each week.

“I love seeing students from the different schools interact every week,” she said.

“The kids are gaining new friends as well as sinking into some good study habits.”

The event has been held since July and intends to run every Tuesday until the start of the HSC. It is free for all year 12 students and runs from 4-8 pm.

“It’s just really good. You can get all your friends to come and then help each other study,” Ms Percivil said.
