Despite being situated on a dead-end street in the quiet suburb of Como, Ted Carey operates a thriving butcher shop. Thanks to his old-fashioned approach to cutting meat and penchant for telling a great story, Ted’s Butcher has become an icon in the local community. Ted’s father opened the store in 1926, a time where there was no electricity and meat would be delivered to customers on horseback. While some there have been some technological upgrades, the shop remains largely unchanged to this day. Ted’s store has received attention from a number of major news outlets over the years, and the coverage serves to underline his status as a local legend.
