While many Australians have moved on from the bushfire season to COVID-19 crisis, the experiences of a destructive and deadly summer are still very raw.
John Olle is the captain of Milton Fire Brigade on the NSW south coast. He fought fires across the state over the summer. He said the bushfires of 2019/2020 were harrowing.
The impact of the bushfire season is still being felt along the south coast. Mr Olle said clearing and cleaning burned infrastructure has been made even more challenging by coronavirus COVID-19 and government mitigation measures to slow its spread.,
