The NSW government has eased restrictions to allow two people to visit a household, but the have had no impact on the music industry.

Wollongong band, Horsin’ Around has had to navigate how to communicate and practice online. Guitarist Ben Melton had to move back home due to losing work, and says it has been “almost impossible” for them to live-stream gigs online.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said people can only visit different households in certain circumstances. Horsin’ Around and other bands will need restrictions to be further eased for them to restart band practice and producing music again.

“We are just waiting for restrictions to change to 10 people being allowed in a household, and then we should be able to produce new music online,” Melton said.

Meantime, Create NSW announced a funding initiative on Friday, 24 March, to support independent artists and screen organisations.

The NSW Government eased restrictions to allow 2 people to visit a household, but it isn't enough to allow bands with more than 3 people to rehearse together. When will restrictions be relaxed enough to accommodate those in the music industry? #UOWTV #music #covid19
