The Illawarra’s 7th annual Ride Around the Lake charity event took place this past weekend to raise awareness and break the cycle of youth homelessness, with the money raised being donated to the Lighthouse Youth Initiative Charity.
The event is reported to have been incredibly successful this year, with its organizers revealing it achieved a record setting 540 riders participating in the 10km and 40km rides, with participants aged from as young as 5 years old.
Discussing the planning of the event, event organizer Robert Battocchio said, “It’s like a big jigsaw puzzle. Every year you scramble it, throw it on the ground and change a bit of the shape and then you got to put it all back together.”
Mr. Battocchio said this method of planning would be used again for next year’s event, with planning already in the early stages.
