Online streaming festival supports Wollongong artists

Seahouses · Wollongong online streaming festival supports local artists

Today a live streaming festival will aim to support Illawarra artists during the coronavirus pandemic following gigs cancelled and new releases delayed.

The Echo and Salt team have closely curated the online event with 40 local artists and a fundraising goal of $2000 with all proceeds going to artists.

Organiser and company owner Tim Kindall Park said the response so far has been overwhelming and is glad people want to support artists.

“I know some of the bands I work with are in debt at the moment. It’s pretty rough because all these gigs that were lined up have been cancelled. Hopefully, it can just help ease something,” Mr Kindall Park said.

Performing artist Heather Duncan (Sesame girl) said it’s nice to be able to still interact with fans via social media.

“We had a whole month of gigs cancelled and we’re obviously not able to book anything now with how uncertain the future is,” Heather said.

The festival starts today at 12 pm via individual artists Instagrams platforms.
