NSW students slowly returning to school under COVID-safe conditions: Govt

Students across NSW have started to return to school at least one day a week as a part of the state government’s easing of coronavirus restrictions.

The government said the staggered approach was to help manage any community transmission of COVID-19 and to allow students to transition back to the classrooms after five weeks of learning from home. The NSW government will review the back-to-school program on Friday, with the hope of students returning to school full-time by May 25.

“Today [Monday] is the first step towards a full school return, something I hope to see happening very soon if the next couple of weeks go well,” NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said.

While each school has different arrangements, principals and teachers have started to assess the success of the gradual return of face-to-face learning, as well as managing the challenges.
