    More females in government means more for Australian women: MPs

    The Illawarra and southern Sydney are among the regions flying the flag for female representation in state government following the state election.

    Maryanne Stuart secured the seat of Heathcote after coveting the role for many years and her Labor colleague Anna Watson was returned for a fourth term in Shellharbour.

    The success of female candidates has been welcomed by Illawarra business operators.

    Behind the Boots owner Kerin Jarvis says female politicians have has a positive impact on her career and business.
