Critics line up to whack Marvel’s Iron Fist

Marvel is facing backlash and dismal reviews from fans for its new Netflix series, Iron Fist.

The new show is based on the 1974 comic, and loosely follows the same plot line as the DC Arrow, CW network series.

Asian-American actor, Lewis Tan has proven a standout and fan favourite despite the martial arts actor appearing for only eight minutes in a fight scene in episode eight.

Critics and fans have criticised Marvel for not casting Tan in the lead role after the actor revealed he had auditioned for the part but was instead cast as a villain.

In an interview with The Verge, Tan said “seeing an Asian-American guy who’s not in touch with his Asian roots go and get in touch with them and discover his power” could have made the show more dynamic.
