The Jones Beach Boardriders Club will host the inaugural South Coast Cup surfing competition on Saturday, May 24.

The competition is exclusive to surf clubs on the NSW South Coast and will be held at either Jones Beach, Bombo Beach or Surf Beach Kiama and boast a prize pool of $5000.

Jones Beach Boardriders Club committee member Geoff Latimer said the competition would benefit surfers on the South Coast.

“It does provide an opportunity for surfers in the region to test their skills on another platform, and also engage with high-quality surfers,” Latimer said.

The competition will take the tag-team format, with teams being made up of six surfers. One junior boy and girl (U/20), two open age  men and one woman, and one master (Over 40).

The competitions holds a requirement for 2 female surfers per team with the aim to encourage women’s participation and provide opportunity.
