The UOW Rotaract Club is raising money to send an emergency survival kit to remote disaster areas in Nepal, after the Himalayan nation’s deadliest earthquake in over 80 years.
The “shelter boxes” contain items essential for victims of natural disasters. The largest item in the pack is a tent, which can house up to 10 people.
Other items include blankets, ponchos and cooking equipment, including a stove and cutlery.
The Rotaract Club wants to raise $1000 to buy a Shelter Box, which would be sent with other Shelter Boxes from Rotary to remote areas of Nepal.
The club organised ran a bake sale to raise money for the event, but more donations are being accepted..
The group can be contacted via their Facebook page or webpage.
