Reports have surfaced that St. George Illawarra Dragons NRL player, Dane Nielsen allegedly assaulted a woman in a Cronulla nightspot last Sunday night. The woman involved has reported the alleged incident to the club, and has accused Nielsen of biting her on the leg.

Witnesses to the alleged incident have reported seeing a group of St. George Illawarra players at a popular Cronulla nightspot. The group is said to have run into players from the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks at which point witnesses describe Nielsen as highly intoxicated.

The NRL have confirmed it knows about the alleged incident.

“At this stage the incident is under investigation by the club and will then be reviewed by the NRL Integrity Unit when a process has been resolved,” an NRL spokesperson said.

The NRL has a controversial history among its players, with criminal offences being reported on a regular basis. Since its establishment, the NRL has seen offences ranging from public urination to physical and sexual assault.
