For many tradies, the workday starts on the road and lately, it’s costing more to get there.

Fuel prices are climbing, adding pressure to workers who rely on their vehicles to make a living.

In response to the current fuel crisis, Australia’s diesel standards will be lowered for six months to allow a greater supply of fuel to flow into the domestic market.

During questioning time yesterday energy minister Chris Bowen disclosed the amount of petrol stations that are either missing one kind of fuel or diesel specifically.

With statistics like this being frequently presented to Australian’s panic buying behaviours have started to return.

Diesel goes to nearly 3 dollars

Federal Government and Energy Minister Chris Bowen have strongly urged Australians to only buy fuel when they need to.

However some occupations do not have the kind of freedom to work remotely or rely on public transport.

For 20 year old first year apprentice electrician Brock Amatto these price changes are starting to impact more than just his fuel tank.

An emergency response plan created in 2019 that was revealed today suggests an array of restrictions including a proposed $40 fuel cap plan restricting drivers to roughly 16L of petrol per purchase.

This plan was created in 2006 and has been ruled out as an option by energy minister Chris Bowen as he says it is ‘a bit out of date’ and that drivers should only purchase sensible amounts of petrol at a time.
