Wollongong photographers have come together to promote conservation through the art of photography at the National Threatened Species Day photo exhibition, held at the Moving Mountains gallery.

The exhibition which opened on September 7, is hosted by the Office of Environmental Heritage, showcases the works of 40 photographers, each featuring an image of an endangered flora or fauna species in the Illawarra or Shoalhaven areas.

Following a silent auction of the artworks, photographers were given the opportunity to donate their proceedings to an environmental group of their choice, to further show their support in saving threatened species across the South Coast region.

Reporter Phi Phi Nguyen has the story.
