More than 80,000 people took part in the world’s largest fun run, considered a celebration of the city of Sydney.
The 2024 City2Surf broke a new record attracting people from all ages to the annual event.
Now in it’s 54th year the fun run starts at Hyde Park, and makes he 14km journey to the iconic Bondi Beach esplanade.
Participant Isabella Coppola, who competed in the 15–19-year-old bracket, takes pride in her achievement of finishing the run in 1: 54 minutes.
“I did it as a little challenge and honestly something to work towards and kind of challenge myself,” she said.
“I was like why not sign up for a run not everyone does it as well so it’s kind of a cool thing to be like yeah I did City2Surf.”
Although the run itself can be seen as a competitive event for some, the core value of City2Surf is all about raising money for charity and running for others.
With a 2024 fundraising target of $3.5 million the Australian community has come together to smash this goal with a result of over $3.7 million raised.
This years top charities were Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundations, Black Dog Institute, and Running for Premature Babies.
“It was very rewarding at the end having finished it and completing it but I would definitely do it again,” Miss Coppola said.
There is still time donate to the causes.
