UOW Philosophy Society students opened their veins today as part of their latest blood drive.

Events coordinato Jarrah Auborgsaid the initiative was designed as a way to give back to society and for people to take an active role in the care for those less fortunate.

The society has run a blood drive every 12 weeks since its inception. With only 1 in 30 people donating blood, as opposed to the 1 in 3 who require a donation in their lifetime, the project is hoping to change current trends.

Mobe reporter Tyler Heycott spoke with Mr Auborg today at the donor centre.

If you’re interested in donating blood, please visit the Australian Red Cross website to make an appointment, or you can call their Wollongong office on 13 14 95. For more information on the UOW Philosophy Society, visit their club page.
