University of Wollongong will see its first ever Big Ideas festival next month.
The initiative, which will run from 4-8 pm on 8th May, was thought up by UOW’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) Professor Judy Raper.
It will feature 12 new and recently promoted UOW professors sharing their research the public and industry at the Inovation Campus.
“Big Ideas is a taster to some of the exciting ideas and areas of research the University of Wollongong is pursuing. It feeds into our Global Challenges Program, which when it kicks off in May, will see some of our best researchers using their expertise to transform lives and regions – to solve key issues like climate change and managing an ageing population,” Professor Raper said.
The festival will feature interactive stalls, live music and networking drinks between two sessions of short talks.
Each professor will have 10 minutes each to speak about their research.
Professor Raper says it gives a challenge to newly appointed UOW professors to talk about their research in a short amount of time and in a fun environment to a community audience.
