Dozens of people gathered outside the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) office in Surry Hills on Monday to protest the NDIS Amendment Bill that is expected to pass in the Senate this week. Introduced by the federal government earlier this year, the bill aims to tackle fraud and improve the scheme’s sustainability, saving $38 billion over four years through tighter eligibility and reduced funding. Community consultations are underway for the proposed ‘Project Mars’ data centre with locals concerned their voices aren’t being heard or considered throughout the process.
