Shellharbour and neighbouring community members gathered in their thousands at the Farm Beach on the NSW South Coast on the weekend to protest a proposed redevelopment the popular Killalea reserve. The Australian unemployment rate is at its lowest in 12 months, according to the latest seasonal estimates of Australia’s Labour Force by the Australian Bureau of Statistics. The number of unemployed Australians has dropped by 70,000 and is now at 805,000 people as of February 2021, while the unemployment rate has decreased 0.5 points and is now at 5.8%. World-first research at the University of Wollongong into breast injuries in women’s contact sport has revealed some alarming trends. A/Prof. Deirdre McGhee is one of a few people in the world studying breast injuries in women’s sport. Her team of researchers found only 10% of the people they surveyed who played rugby league, AFL and rugby union reported a breast injury to a coach or team official. Breast injuries can result in serious short-term effects for the athlete, including bruising and swelling which affects the athlete’s ability to perform at an optimum level. The Helensburgh Tigers Senior Rugby League Club has had to undergo a complete structural change ahead of the 2021 season. The Tigers were forced to merge their two top teams into one after the club suffered a 40% loss in revenue last year.
