The assistant principal of a local primary school charged with sexually assaulting two young girls has been denied bail for the second time.

Mark Robert Forbes, 53, is charged with four counts of indecent assault of a person under 16, and one count of sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 10.

The two girls, aged seven and nine, were being babysat at Forbes’ Kieraville home at the time of the alleged offences.

Forbes was first denied bail on Good Friday, with his second application to Wollongong Local Court turned down today.

Magistrate Alison Viney accepted that the Crown had a strong case against Forbes, and concurred with police prosecutor Sergeant Rob Casey, who argued that the defendant posed a high risk to the community.
