3 reasons the ‘dolphin attack’ was particularly strange

Unlucky surfer John Wolfson was taken out by a dolphin earlier this week – which apparently is as bad as getting hit by a motorbike. Sadly for John, he can’t even claim a cool shark attack story, because apparently this incident was an unintentional hit and run by the dolphin. Though he might not have much to brag about, he does have these three reasons that make it a great story:

    1. It destroyed his wetsuit

That’s right, the same neoprene suits that take hits from bombing waves, rocky reefs and sharp board fins can’t handle the smooth head of a dolphin, apparently. What’s worse, it was a new wetty too!

    2. The dolphin is being treated like a suspect

Police arrived at Bawley’s Beach to interview witnesses – maybe this dolphin had prior convictions. John had to justify that the dolphin didn’t see him, though the ABC still reported that the pack ‘muscled in’, like a ferocious gang. Was this a targeted attack by the dolphin? I suppose we’ll have to wait until cops apprehend the suspect.

    3. It was his birthday

And he got hit in the groin! This guy’s got no luck.
