    Who cares about Country?

Benjamin BallBy Benjamin BallMay 27, 2024No Comments1 Min Read

Throughout 2024, staff from across UOW have participated in an Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Transformation (EDI-T) project that has sought to engage Country in conversations about care.

Participants in the project were encouraged to slow down and re-learn how to observe Country as Teacher, taking time to learn from Mother Earth, Father Sky, Grandmother Moon, and Grandfather Sun.

In the initial stage of the project, staff shared an icon representing what care at UOW means to them. Next, they were asked to consider and feel how Country cares for us and how we in turn can care for Country. After a series of sessions learning from Country, participants were invited to share a second icon representing their new understanding of care, developed through, connecting with, and learning from Country.

The research team invited UOWTV to document the project, resulting in this short video, which is also part of the ‘Who Cares about Country?’ exhibition at the TAEM Gallery in building 25, opening May 28.
