The University of Wollongong Student Services and Amenities Fee survey launches today, initiating debate over whether students feel the compulsory charge is worth the cost.
The annual survey asks how student fees should be allocated across services such as wellbeing, campus facilities and student activities.
However, third-year UOW student Bella Dymock said she is unconvinced there is direct benefit from the fee.
“I don’t use the student amenities, I just come here, I do my classes, maybe study a little and then leave. So I don’t really use them and I don’t really understand why I’m paying for them when I don’t use them,” Miss Dymock said.

The survey closes on the 20th of May and the results will help determine whether the fee is seen as a necessary investment or an added cost that students could do without.
