Many Australians are turning to electric vehicles (EVs) as a solution to rising petrol prices and concerns over long-term availability,

Over the past month alone, the increase in google searches and loan requests has been astronomical, with waiting periods now up to four months for new arrivals.

RadioU UOW · Electric Vehicles – The solution to the fuel crisis for only those who can afford it

Bulli local Nicole Frost bought her Tesla in 2022 with sustainability and cost efficiency in mind and has not looked back. She thinks the current fuel crisis will give Australian’s a push towards a more environmentally friendly and cost-effective future.

For others, including young people like Sebastian Diss, the idea feels even further out of reach than paying for fuel week to week, as they just don’t have the capital to purchase an EV. In remote and rural parts of the country, where public transport is scarce and new infrastructure isn’t on the horizon, the options are limited when it comes to short-term or long-term relief.
