Council wants to improve library funding

    Michael DiFabrizioBy Michael DiFabrizioApril 30, 2014Updated:April 30, 2014No Comments1 Min Read

There were more than 930,000 visits to Wollongong libraries in the 2012-13 financial year, but funding them is a growing issue.

Wollongong councillors on Monday declared their support for a NSW Public Library Associations campaign to increase state government funding for libraries, the Illawarra Mercury reported.

It is hoped that this campaign can secure an additional $200,000 annually for local libraries.

Today, UOWTV Multimedia is looking at the role of Wollongong libraries and changes that are taking place.

Journalists are working on a written report on this week’s developments, an audio report on the growing importance of audiobooks within libraries and a photo essay on those who use the library facilities available today.
