This AFL season has seen more Collingwood fans attend games than in any other season over the last 10 years.
Collingwood’s home game average attendance has grown by 9,231 on average this season, compared to the 2024 season. Last seasons attendance figures were still solid despite a dour-performing season. Now, with their current winning streak, the team’s supporters are coming out in droves to see them play.

In 2023, the Melbourne- based club released a statement to all members saying; “We are on an exciting journey and we do not take for granted the unwavering support you provide us with at every game. Our fans turn up like no other.”
Collingwood is currently topping the AFL ladder by 2 points, contributing to their fans’ excitement and desire to turn up and support the team at their home games.

University of Wollongong student and longtime Collingwood fan, Oliver Wischer, offered his own thoughts on the reason behind the major increase in support for the team.
“It’s the recent success,” Wischer said,
“Last year we weren’t having that good of a season and then this year we’ve been doing very well with a long win streak”
“It’s been building over quite a few years and now we’re winning game after game. It’s just bottling over.”
With the increase in supporters comes the increase of fights in stadiums. On the 29th of May a video was shared to social media showing a Collingwood fan being attacked by multiple Hawthorn fans following Collingwood’s victory. Victoria Police revealed in a statement that there were “a number of behavioural issues” that night, resulting in 10 spectators being ejected from the game.
