Record stores across the world will celebrate International Record Store Day on Saturday.

The day is devoted to buying analogue music and is focused on the origins of music.

Wollongong record store Music Farmers will be play old and new vinyl records as part of the celebration. The music selection will range from local artists, such as Hockey Dad, to global super stars, including Metallica.

The day will also be a chance for music lovers to get their hands on limited edition special releases.

Music Farmers co-owner Jeb Taylor said he expected a large turnout of music fans in the store across the day.

Mr Taylor said International Record Store Day was a opportunity to enjoy live music, reminisce and appreciate the art of vinyl records.
