Tonight will mark the third instalment of the Black Wallaby Indigenous Writers Night, where poems written by Aboriginal inmates from the Junee Correctional Centre will be read aloud at the Wollongong Art Gallery. The event is a collaboration between the Black Wallaby Indigenous Writers and the South Coast Writers Centre, a relationship that started in 2009. The South Coast Writers Centre secured Arts NSW funds to hold annual creative writing workshops for inmates at the Junee Correctional Facility. University of Wollongong student Michaela Adrao is riding a wave of euphoria after volunteering at an event for the Disabled Surfers Association last weekend. Held at Gerroa, the event attracted over 250 volunteers and Michaela said the enthusiasm of the participants and helpers was infectious. The Food and Drug Administration has issued a warning on over-the-counter homeopathic asthma products, advising consumers to consult with a health care provider on how to better treat and manage their asthma. The FDA has also announced it will hold a public hearing on homeopathic products next month.
